On Tuesday 18th July, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Climate Change (Climate APPG) hosted a Parliamentary briefing on the Committee on Climate Change's (the CCC) 2023 progress report to Parliament, with Professor Piers Forster (Interim Chair of the CCC).
The roundtable focused on fossil fuel phaseout, scaling up renewable energy and restoring UK climate leadership. MPs and Peers raised a number of issues with the CCC including their opposition to the Rosebank oil field and how the CCC could respond to its potential development, unblocking barriers to net zero, improving energy efficiency, COP28, recommending a Future Generations Act and more!
