Maintaining the UK’s leadership in the net zero transition is not only a climate imperative, but an economic opportunity. The net zero sector is growing three times faster than the overall UK economy, with significant growth potential in the coming years. Businesses are prepared to lead, invest, and innovate in the transition to a cleaner, more secure energy system. A clear, consistent policy framework is essential to boost business confidence and unlock investment - delivering against the government’s clean energy and growth missions at once.
Following the publication of the UK's Industrial Strategy, this roundtable brought together senior business representatives, investors, innovators and cross-party parliamentarians to discuss the economic case and business appetite for the UK maintaining its global leadership on the clean energy transition. The discussion focused on the importance of clear long-term policy signals, private sector leadership and bold government vision in driving progress.
